POST MALONE
Post Malone is having one hell of a week. Having recently been crowned the most streamed new artist ever across Apple Music, iTunes and Spotify, he’s now also at No1 for the third week in a row, both in the British Singles Charts and the US Billboard Top 100, with new single “Rockstar” (featuring 21 Savage). And while this ascendancy into the mainstream might seem sudden, the new king of streaming is no stranger to success.
Four of the tracks from Post Malone’s debut album Stoney- which has so far racked up over 1 billion streams - have gone platinum. He worked with Kanye West on The Life Of Pablo anthem “Fade” after playing at Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party and with Pharrell on “Up There” from Stoney. He was even the opening act for Justin Bieber’s Purpose world tour. Evidently, there’s nothing like a long stint supporting one of the biggest pop stars on the planet to teach you the meaning of hard work: “Justin is a machine! One-hundred-plus shows in just a few months, where he's nonstop with two hours a night, every night in a row,” he told GQ. And despite readily admitting that “I'm a shy guy and I love my sleep, my bed is my favorite place in the world”, those lessons seem to have paid off. Now, Malone has 215,000 people signed up to his London gig alert and counts Ed Sheeran among his fans, after the singer-songwriter called “Rockstar” “a really smashing song”....
